Currently, we don't have a built-in feature to record your meetings, however, you can also do it with VLC Media player or a different tool like OBS Studio.
This article will cover:
Recording with VLC Media Player
- Download and install VLC from the VideoLAN website.
- Launch VLC. Go to the "View" tab on the application menu and select "Advanced Controls." The "Record" button displays on the control bar.
- Click the "Media" tab and select "Open Network Stream." Enter the direct URL to the network stream in the "Address" field. Click "Play" and the network stream loads in VLC.
- Click the "Record" button. When you are ready to stop recording the network stream, click the "Record" button again.
- VLC stores recorded videos in the Windows "Videos" folder, unless you have specified a different location.
NOTE:
Using VLC to record your meeting, will record only the audio of your meeting.
Recording with OBS Studio
OBS Studio allows you to record video and audio your Facebook or Youtube stream. This software is free to use and it can be downloaded from here.
Using OBS Studio, you can either record your desktop, browser, or directly the stream URL. In this tutorial, we will record the browser window.
- Download OBS from the official website and install it as you would any other program. Run it as administrator and head into the Sources panel from the bottom of the page
- Click on the '+' icon to select the source that will be recorded and select the Window Capture option
- In the following screen, name your new source, and click OK
- A new pop-up screen will appear, where you have to choose the window name that you would like to record. You have a few different options for capturing your footage. You can capture any full-screen application, a specific window, or a foreground window. You can also force scaling, capture third-party overlays, and more. Click OK to complete.
- Once you are ready click the Start Recording button.
- In the Stream Key field, type or paste your YouTube Stream key. That links OBS with YouTube so the software records straight to your channel.
Additional Adjustments - Audio
- Click on Settings then Audio from the left-hand menu. Each device on that page represents one potential audio source in your live stream. If you want viewers to hear the meeting or desktop audio, set one of the Desktop audio device settings to your system’s audio output. If you want your viewers to hear you, select your microphone from the drop-down next to Mix/Auxiliary Audio Device.
- Exit the settings panel by clicking Apply, followed by OK.
Additional Adjustments -Video
- Click on Settings - then Video to select the size of your Video output, and also the frame rates. Framerates should be set to 20 or 30, however, you can use a higher framerate.
