KUDO enables attendees to access live translated audio and multilingual captions on their own devices. A dedicated onsite computer sends the room's audio and video feed to KUDO, while attendees scan a QR code, select their preferred language, and immediately stream the translated audio or view live captions through their mobile browser.
Step 1: Connect the Room to KUDO
Each room that requires translation needs one dedicated computer connected to KUDO. This computer joins the meeting using the meeting's Participant link and sends the room's source-language audio and video feed to the platform. The computer should be dedicated exclusively to this purpose during the event and should not be used for presentations, web browsing, or other tasks. In addition to the computer, you will need at least one USB audio interface or media capture device to connect the venue's audio and video feeds.
To connect the room, the venue AV/IT team must provide a wired Ethernet connection to the venue network, a direct audio feed containing the language being spoken on stage, and a program video feed. While the video feed is recommended for AI Translation workflows to provide additional context, it is required when using professional interpreters.
Onsite Computer Requirements
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating System | Windows 7+ or macOS 10.11+ |
| Processor | Intel Core i7, AMD Ryzen 7, or Apple M1 (or better) |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM minimum |
| Browser | Chrome (preferred), Firefox, or Edge. Safari is not supported. |
| Internet Connection | 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload minimum |
| Network Ports | TCP 443 and UDP 3478 |
Step 2: Share the QR Code with Attendees
Once KUDO is connected to the meeting space, display the meeting’s Mobile Link and QR code on presentation screens, signage, or printed materials. The attendees scan the QR code with their phones, choose their preferred language, and immediately start listening to translated audio or reading live captions in their favorite mobile browser. No app download is required.
Step 3: Verify Attendee Wi-Fi
Reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout the venue is essential for a successful multilingual experience. Each attendee receives translated audio and captions directly on their own device, so the wireless network must be capable of supporting the expected number of simultaneous users.
Minimum Requirements
- Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) or Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
- Dedicated or isolated 5 GHz wireless network
- Access points with 3×3 MU-MIMO antennas or better
- Minimum bandwidth of 48 kbps per attendee
- UDP traffic allowed through the network firewall
- Support for unicast communication
Recommended Best Practices
- Encourage attendees to bring headphones or earbuds for the best listening experience
- Verify Wi-Fi coverage in all attendee areas, including overflow spaces, hallways, and breakout rooms
- Test QR code access and audio streaming before attendees arrive
- Ensure attendee devices can remain charged throughout the event
